A symbol of summer, men’s sandals have stood the test of time, from the ancient world to the modern catwalk.
Once a sign of social status, it alternates between utility and elegance. Long associated with casual wear, it is now making a comeback.
Paraboot, true to its commitment to quality, reinterprets this classic with two sandal models: the Pacific leather sandal, robust and timeless, and the Athènes mule, minimalist and sophisticated.
The return of the men’s sandal
Long associated with vacation or casual wear, men’s sandals are back in fashion. Now revisited by the major fashion houses and adopted by those seeking both style and comfort, they come in a variety of shoe types.
From sturdy leather models with an assertive design to more minimalist versions inspired by the Mediterranean, there’s something for everyone.
They are no longer identified as“old people’s shoes“.
If they’re making such a comeback, it’s because today’s men want summer shoes that don’t sacrifice elegance or comfort.
Now more than ever, they favor quality materials and genuine craftsmanship. Paraboot understands this and offers models that combine traditional craftsmanship and modernity, for a sandal that lasts through the seasons without going out of style.
Paraboot, men’s footwear since 1908
Since its foundation in 1908, the Richard-Pontvert company – through its Paraboot brand – has been synonymous with quality and exceptional craftsmanship. The Isère-based company has made a name for itself thanks to its choice of raw materials and traditional know-how handed down from generation to generation.
The choice of leather
Meticulous attention is paid to the choice of materials. Depending on the style required, our design office will suggest calf, cow or deer leather, all exceptional leathers. These materials are always carefully selected from animals born and raised for the food industry in Europe. As a result, the hides are also tanned on this continent.
Mastery of exceptional know-how
Paraboot models, whether derbies, moccasins or sandals, are designed with specific assembly techniques, such as Blake or welded seams, to guarantee flexibility and comfort.
Although these methods are no longer mastered in-house, Paraboot works with trusted European partners to maintain impeccable quality.
The brand attaches great importance to environmental sustainability. Mindful of its impact, it strives to reduce its ecological footprint by using sustainable materials and adopting responsible manufacturing practices in France.
Why focus on quality?
Aesthetics are essential, but so is the quality of a sandal. It is measured in terms of fit and comfort. A top-of-the-range sandal is distinguished by several criteria:
– Materials such as full-grain leather, natural rubber soles and tanning.
– Optimal support with a well thought-out structure that follows the foot’s morphology.
– A handcrafted design featuring meticulous assembly, fine finishing and sturdiness.
Paraboot’s leather sandals meet all these requirements with an approach that values traditional know-how while integrating modern elements to meet contemporary expectations.
The Pacific model, the origins of the brand’s first men’s sandal
The first Paraboot sandal was created in the late ’50s. Among Paraboot’s many must-have references, the Pacific men’s leather sandal stands out for its elegant design. Initially designed for Carthusian monks, these are true walking shoes, offering a perfect balance between support and flexibility.
High-quality grained or smooth leather, welded to a natural rubber sole, ensures durability. So you can wear them in the city as well as in the great outdoors.
Why choose the Pacific model?
– A timeless design featuring clean lines.
– Great comfort with an ergonomic structure that perfectly fits the foot.
– An all-terrain model that goes equally well with linen pants, shorts or light jeans.
The Pacific is perfect for those who want a comfortable yet fashionable sandal to accompany sunny days, whether for a seaside stroll or a city outing.
What’s more, thanks to its versatile design, it works equally well with light outfits or more assertive looks.
Sandals for every foot and every style
While the Pacific model sits among the brand’s icons, the Paraboot teams offer other styles of wedge sandals with a different allure: Adriatic and Athens.
These summer shoes cover the front of the foot. While the Adriatic model has a strap at the back of the heel, the Athens model slips on like a slipper.
The Athens model
Revisiting the Adriatic sandal, the Athens mule offers a sleek, functional design. Its welded construction on a sporty cleated sole ensures optimum grip and great flexibility.
The suede leather upper provides an elegant, refined finish. A detail not to be overlooked: waterproofing of the leather extends the shoe’s durability.
– Absolute comfort: the cushioned sole and supple leather ensure a pleasant feel with every step.
– Adjustable fit: the buckle allows the mule to be adapted to the shape of the foot.
– Casual elegance: ideal for summer wear, whether in town or by the sea.
With the Athens mule, Paraboot modernizes the men’s sandal. With its sophisticated design, it’s easy to wear on any occasion, whether for a casual outing or a more assertive look.
Featuring suede leather and a shock-absorbing sole, it combines aesthetics and comfort, guaranteeing a smooth, pleasant gait.
A sure bet for those looking for a reliable, elegant sandal for an active lifestyle.

How to care for your leather sandals
Like any closed-toe shoe, sandals and slippers require care to extend their lifespan. Here are our care tips, depending on the leather of your pair of bare feet:
Smooth and grained leathers
1. Using a polishing brush, dust off the leather.
2. Using a soft cloth, apply a cleaning wax evenly to the shoe. Leave to stand.
3. Wax the leather with a little shoe polish on a clean cloth, using a circular motion. Brush the leather with a soft bristle brush (polisher type).
4. Shine with the glove provided.
Velvets and nubucks
1. Using a polishing brush, dust off the leather.
2. Remove localized dirt with a nubuck eraser. On nubuck, spray essential oil over the entire shoe from a distance of 20cm, then leave to stand. On velvet, straighten the pile with a scraper brush.
3. Occasionally spray waterproofing evenly. Allow to penetrate.
The natural rubber sole requires no special care. To find out more, visit our maintenance tips page.
Long sidelined, men’s sandals are now more a conscious choice than a simple summer basic. Practical, comfortable and now part of a wide range of looks, sandals are breaking free of clichés to become an essential part of men’s wardrobes.
At Paraboot, each model is designed to offer a balance between tradition and modernity, with a focus on sustainable materials and optimized comfort.
Whether it’s the Pacific, with its rugged, versatile look, or the Athens, with its understated elegance and exceptional comfort, each pair adds a touch of character to an outfit for the summer season.
